3 months old!

Alexander is three months old today! Officially out of the "fourth trimester" and into being an alert, interactive baby. Although as is obvious by my other posts, he's been there developmentally for a while.

He's really enjoying standing up (with support from an adult, of course), and is getting pretty good at standing upright for a decent length of time. It's amazing how seeing him standing straight up makes him look like a very tiny, oddly proportioned "person" instead of a "baby". He's also getting better at sitting up - he managed a few seconds of unsupported sitting propped up on his hands yesterday before he started collapsing. And another first - on Monday when he lost his latch and rolled away from me a bit while nursing he managed to grab my shirt and pull himself back into position instead of having to have me help him on again.

Unfortunately, he is so enthusiastic about practicing all these new skills he's getting that he doesn't want to nurse as much during the day, because he's too busy playing to sit down and nurse for any lenght of time unless he's sleepy. As a result he's waking up more during the night to nurse - we had been pretty consistantly having him go down around 10 and not get up to nurse till 4 at the earliest., but now he's back to waking up around 1 or 2 in the morning and then every 2 or 3 hours after that. Oh well.
